Salisbury, MD… The College of New Jersey softball team pulled off a big doubleheader sweep of second-ranked Salisbury University on Sunday, March 26 as the Lions have now won six of their last seven games. TCNJ won the first game by the score of 2-1, before completing the sweep with a 4-2 victory in the second game. 
The Lions are now 9-5 on the season, while the Sea Gulls slipped to 16-4.

Carlyn Perrotty (Boonton Township, NJ/Mountain Lakes) belted a solo home run in the fourth inning that proved to be the difference as the Lions won the opening game of the twin bill. 
TCNJ’s other run came an inning earlier when 
Kelly Quigley (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) raced home on a Sea Gull error. 
Junior pitcher 
Julianne Lajiness (Monroe Township, NJ/Notre Dame) picked up the win for the Lions to improve to 3-1 on the season. 
Jess Kohut (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) closed out the game to record her second save in as many games. 
Adding to the win was
 Jonna Mahalchik (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) as the sophomore went 2-for-3.

Vicki Blevins (Robbinsville, NJ/Monroe Township) had a big game at the plate with a pair of hits, including a double, with two runs batted in. 
The Lions scored twice in the third inning as Lajiness scored before Perrotty crossed the plate on a single by Blevins. 
TCNJ then added the winning run in the sixth as 
Jen Hughes (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) got aboard after being hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Blevins. 
In the seventh, the Lions tacked on an insurance run as 
Christina Lizzi (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) drove home 
Tara Harrigan (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) making it 4-2. 
Heather Hoffman (Annandale, NJ/Immaculata) improved to 4-1 on the year as she went into the seventh inning before Kohut closed the door on the Sea Gulls with her second save of the day. Hoffman allowed a run in the third inning that brought an end to her impressive string of not allowing a run at 23-1/3 innings. 
The Lions will be back on the field on Wednesday, March 29 heading to Muhlenberg College to take on the Mules in a doubleheader.
